
Fuzzy Probability
Fuzzy probability is a way of measuring uncertainty that acknowledges imprecision in information, unlike traditional probability which assigns exact chances. It uses “fuzzy sets” to express how likely something is, where the likelihood isn't a precise number but a gradual membership—so, for example, “about 70%” might be represented as a fuzzy value. This approach is useful when data is vague or imprecise, allowing for reasoning and decision-making that reflect real-world ambiguity more accurately. In essence, fuzzy probability captures degrees of belief in situations where clear boundaries are hard to define.
