Futhark

Futhark refers to the ancient runic alphabets used by Germanic peoples, particularly in Scandinavia and parts of the British Isles. Named after the first six characters (F, U, Þ, A, R, K), it served various purposes, including writing, divination, and magical inscriptions. The earliest form, Elder Futhark, dates back to around the 2nd to 8th centuries AD, evolving into later variations like the Younger Futhark. Runestones and artifacts often feature these symbols, providing insights into the culture, language, and beliefs of early Germanic societies. Futhark remains significant in historical linguistics and modern interpretations of ancient traditions.
