Fusion of Powers

Fusion of powers is a system where the executive and legislative branches of government are interconnected, often found in parliamentary systems. Instead of having separate, independent branches, the executive (prime minister and cabinet) is drawn from the legislature (parliament). This means the government is formed based on parliamentary confidence and can be dissolved by a vote of no confidence. Such integration fosters closer cooperation between the lawmaking and implementing arms of government, but can also blur the lines of accountability. It contrasts with a clear separation of powers, like in presidential systems, emphasizing a unified structure to promote efficiency and collective responsibility.
