Fused in Sarcoma (FUS)

Fused in Sarcoma (FUS) is a gene involved in cell processes like gene regulation and repair. In certain cancers, such as some types of sarcomas, parts of the FUS gene can abnormally fuse with other genes, creating a “fusion gene.” This new gene can produce faulty proteins that promote uncontrolled cell growth and cancer development. FUS fusions are also linked to some neurological conditions. Understanding these genetic changes helps researchers develop targeted treatments and improve diagnosis accuracy.
