Front de libération du Québec
The Front de libération du Québec (FLQ) was a Canadian militant group active mainly in the 1960s and early 1970s. It sought Quebec independence from Canada and used violence, including bombings, kidnappings, and sabotage, to draw attention to their cause. The FLQ's activities culminated in the October Crisis of 1970, when the Canadian government invoked special powers to arrest members and ensure public safety. The group disbanded in the mid-1970s, but it played a significant role in Quebec's political history by highlighting tensions around language, culture, and national identity.
