Frizzled

Frizzled is a type of protein found on the surface of cells that acts as a receptor in a signaling pathway known as the Wnt pathway. Think of it as a lock on the cell’s surface that binds specific "keys" (Wnt proteins), which then triggers a series of internal signals. These signals help regulate important processes like cell growth, development, and differentiation. Frizzled proteins are crucial during embryonic development and maintaining tissue health. When their signaling goes awry, it can contribute to diseases such as cancer.
