Friend of the Court

A Friend of the Court, also known as a Guardian ad Litem or amicus curiae, is a court-appointed individual or office that provides the judge with neutral information and recommendations regarding family law cases, such as custody or visitation disputes. Their role is to ensure the child's best interests are considered without advocating for either parent. They gather information through interviews, reports, or observations and assist the court in making informed decisions, always prioritizing the child's well-being.
