Frictional Force

Frictional force is the resistance that occurs when two surfaces slide or attempt to slide past each other. It acts parallel to the contact surfaces and opposes the motion, making it harder to move objects. Friction varies depending on the types of surfaces and the force pressing them together. For example, sliding a book on a table requires overcoming friction, which is why more effort is needed on rough surfaces compared to smooth ones. Friction is essential for daily activities like walking, driving, and holding objects, but it can also cause wear and energy loss in machines.
