Freud's Stages of Development
Freud's stages of development suggest that early childhood experiences influence personality. There are five stages: 1. Oral (0-1 year): Pleasure from sucking and biting, shaping trust and dependency. 2. Anal (1-3 years): Focus on bowel control, impacting self-control and orderliness. 3. Phallic (3-6 years): Awareness of genitals, involving gender identity and morals. 4. Latency (6-12 years): Social skills develop; sexual feelings are subdued. 5. Genital (12+): Sexual maturity and developing deep adult relationships. Progress through these stages affects personality and behavior later in life.
