French overseas territories
French overseas territories are regions located outside mainland France but still under French sovereignty. They include diverse areas such as Caribbean islands (Guadeloupe, Martinique), Indian Ocean islands (Réunion, Mayotte), South Pacific territories (New Caledonia, French Polynesia), and parts of South America (French Guiana). These territories have varying degrees of autonomy and representation in French government, but all are considered integral parts of France. Their statuses reflect historical colonization and strategic importance, contributing to France’s global presence. Despite geographical distance, they are connected politically, economically, and culturally to mainland France.
