French Overseas Collectivity
A French Overseas Collectivity is a type of administrative division of France that exists outside of continental Europe. These collectivities have a degree of autonomy but remain under French sovereignty. They have their own local governments and can make certain laws independently, while still adhering to French national law. Each collectivity has its own unique characteristics, cultures, and environments, often reflecting the diverse regions they represent. Examples include Saint Pierre and Miquelon, and French Southern and Antarctic Lands, which are distinct from fully integrated regions like Réunion or Guadeloupe.
