French knots
A French knot is a decorative embroidery technique used to create small, raised dots on fabric. To make a French knot, you thread your needle with a length of embroidery floss, then bring the needle up through the fabric at the desired spot. Wind the thread around the needle one or more times, depending on the size of the knot you want. Holding the thread tight, you then insert the needle back into the fabric very close to the original entry point. Gently pull the needle through; the wound thread will form a neat, three-dimensional dot on the surface of the fabric.
