French electoral system
France uses a two-round system for most elections, including the presidency and legislative races. In the first round, candidates compete and if someone secures more than 50% of votes, they win outright. If not, the top two candidates proceed to a second round, where the one with the majority wins. This format aims to ensure the elected candidate has broad support. The system promotes genuine competition and encourages candidates to appeal to a wide range of voters. Presidential elections occur every five years, and legislative elections for the National Assembly happen every five years as well.
