FRELIMO (Frente de Libertação de Mozambique)
FRELIMO (Frente de Libertação de Moçambique) is the political movement that fought to end colonial rule and establish Mozambique as an independent nation. Founded in 1962, initially as a liberation movement, it led a guerrilla war against Portuguese colonial authorities. After a protracted struggle, Mozambique gained independence in 1975, and FRELIMO became the country's ruling party. Over the decades, FRELIMO has evolved into a major political force, guiding Mozambique’s government and policies while also promoting development and stability in the country.
