Frege's Puzzle

Frege's Puzzle addresses the question of how two different phrases can refer to the same object yet seem to have different meanings or contributions to a sentence’s truth. For example, "Hesperus" and "Phosphorus" both name the Evening Star and the Morning Star, respectively. Despite referring to the same planet, they seem to convey different information or contribute differently in beliefs and reasoning. The puzzle highlights the distinction between "reference" (the actual object) and "sense" (the way the object is presented), revealing complexities in understanding meaning and linguistic reference in logic and philosophy of language.
