Free Module
A free module is a mathematical structure similar to a vector space, but defined over a ring instead of a field. It consists of elements called "vectors" that can be combined through addition and scalar multiplication, with the key property that it has a basis— a set of independent generators from which every element can be uniquely formed. Think of it as a flexible framework that allows constructing elements from fundamental building blocks, much like how words are formed from letters. Free modules are foundational in algebra because they provide a simple, well-understood setting for studying more complex modules and structures.
