Free flap reconstruction

Free flap reconstruction is a surgical technique used to repair damaged or missing tissue, often after injury or tumor removal. The surgeon takes healthy tissue—including skin, fat, muscle, and blood vessels—from one part of the body (donor site) and transplant it to the affected area (recipient site). Using microsurgery, the blood vessels are reconnects to restore blood flow, ensuring the transplanted tissue survives. This method provides precise restoration of form and function, helping improve appearance and facilitate healing in complex cases such as severe wounds, burns, or cancer repairs.
