
Frederik IV of Denmark
Frederik IV of Denmark (1671–1730) was king from 1699 until his death. He strengthened the monarchy’s power, modernized administrative functions, and promoted arts and architecture, notably commissioning early Danish baroque buildings. His reign saw wars and territorial adjustments, including conflicts with Sweden. Frederik IV was known for his efforts to centralize authority and enhance Denmark’s national identity. Despite challenges, he maintained stability and left a legacy of cultural and infrastructural development that influenced Denmark’s future.
