Frederick Herzberg (Psychologist)
Frederick Herzberg was an influential psychologist best known for his motivation-hygiene theory, also known as the two-factor theory. He proposed that job satisfaction and dissatisfaction arise from different factors. Motivators, such as achievement and recognition, can enhance job satisfaction, while hygiene factors, like salary and work conditions, can prevent dissatisfaction. However, improving hygiene factors alone doesn't increase satisfaction. Herzberg's work emphasizes the importance of both elements in the workplace, suggesting that to motivate employees effectively, organizations need to address both their needs for fulfillment and their need for a stable, comfortable work environment.
