Franco's Spain

Franco's Spain was a period from 1939 to 1975 when General Francisco Franco ruled the country as a dictator after winning the Spanish Civil War. His government was authoritarian, suppressing political opposition, limiting freedoms, and promoting nationalism. Franco maintained close ties with other conservative regimes and relied on military power to govern. The regime also enforced traditional Catholic values and suppressed regional identities and languages. Despite economic growth in later years, political repression persisted until his death in 1975, after which Spain transitioned to a democratic constitutional monarchy.
