Franciscan Novitiate
A Franciscan Novitiate is a formal period of entry and preparation for someone becoming a Franciscan friar, a member of a religious community following St. Francis of Assisi’s example. Typically lasting one to two years, it involves living within the community, studying Franciscan principles, and deepening spiritual commitments. During this time, novices discern their calling and develop a shared understanding of Franciscan life, values, and duties. It serves as a foundational step before taking permanent vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience, symbolizing a sincere dedication to living according to the Franciscan way.
