
Francis II Rákóczi
Francis II Rákóczi was a Hungarian nobleman and prince who led a major revolt against Habsburg rule in Hungary from 1703 to 1711. He sought independence for Hungary and fought against the Austrian Empire, rallying many Hungarians and other Central Europeans. Despite initial successes, the uprising was eventually defeated, and Rákóczi was forced into exile. He became a symbol of Hungarian national identity and resistance, remembered for his dedication to Hungary's sovereignty and his leadership in a crucial period of Hungarian history.
