FPTP

First-Past-The-Post (FPTP) is a voting system where voters choose one candidate in their electoral district, known as a constituency. The candidate with the most votes in each district wins, even if they don’t have more than half the votes. The overall outcome is determined by adding up all the winners from each district. It’s straightforward but can lead to situations where a candidate wins without majority support, and smaller parties may struggle to gain representation if their support is spread out or concentrated in specific areas.
