founder of the International Center for Responsible Gaming
The International Center for Responsible Gaming (ICRG) was founded by Dr. James E. Orford, a recognized researcher in gambling studies. He established the organization to promote scientific research on gambling behaviors and gambling-related problems, with the goal of developing effective prevention and treatment strategies. Essentially, the ICRG was created to better understand gambling addiction, educate the public, and inform policymakers, to ensure gambling is conducted responsibly and safely. Dr. Orford’s work has been fundamental in shifting the focus from gambling as merely entertainment to recognizing and addressing potential harms.
