Foundations of Internalism

Foundations of internalism refer to a philosophical view in ethics and epistemology that emphasizes the importance of internal states, such as reasons, beliefs, or justifications, in determining whether something is morally right or knowledge is justified. Internalists believe that for a belief or moral judgment to be valid, the person must have access to, or be aware of, the reasons supporting it. This perspective contrasts with externalism, which allows external factors beyond one's awareness to justify beliefs or actions. Internalism highlights the role of internal cognitive access in assessing justification and moral responsibility.
