Foundation for Fundamental Research on Matter

The Foundation for Fundamental Research on Matter (FOM) was a Dutch organization dedicated to supporting scientific studies of the basic properties of matter and energy. Its goal was to advance our understanding of how the universe works at a fundamental level—examining particles, atoms, and the forces governing them. By funding advanced research and facilitating collaboration among scientists, FOM aimed to contribute to technological innovations and deepen scientific knowledge. In 2017, FOM merged into the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO), continuing its mission under its umbrella.
