Foto-Secession
Foto-Secession was a short-lived art movement in early 20th-century Vienna that aimed to elevate photography as a reputable, artistic medium comparable to painting and sculpture. Founded in 1910 by a group of photographers, it sought to challenge traditional views of photography as merely a commercial or documentary tool. The movement emphasized artistic expression, innovative techniques, and the aesthetic qualities of photographic images, fostering a community dedicated to exploring photography’s creative potential. Though it was active for only a few years, Foto-Secession contributed to changing perceptions of photography and influenced future artistic pursuits in the medium.
