Forward Primer

A forward primer is a short, engineered piece of DNA used in a process called PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) to start copying a specific segment of DNA. It binds to the beginning of the target DNA sequence, guiding the DNA polymerase enzyme where to start copying. Think of it as a bookmark or a starting line in a race, ensuring the copying process begins precisely at the desired location. By designing the forward primer to match the beginning of the target sequence, scientists can selectively amplify that specific region for further study or analysis.
