Fort Simcoe
Fort Simcoe was a military outpost established in 1856 in what is now Washington State. Built by the U.S. Army, it served as a strategic site for managing and protecting settlers and travelers, as well as for overseeing Native American relations during the westward expansion. The fort played a role in military campaigns and later functioned as a school and government center. Today, Fort Simcoe is a historic site and park, offering visitors a glimpse into 19th-century military life and regional history through preserved buildings and interpretive displays.
