Fort Nisqually
Fort Nisqually was a historic trading post established in 1833 by the Hudson’s Bay Company in what is now Tacoma, Washington. It served as a hub for fur trading, agriculture, and early settlement in the Pacific Northwest. The fort played a key role in regional commerce, facilitating trade between Native Americans, explorers, and settlers. It operated until the 1860s, after which the area developed into a thriving community. Today, Fort Nisqually is a reconstructed historic site that offers insight into 19th-century fur trade life and the area's early history through exhibits and demonstrations.
