Fort McClellan

Fort McClellan was a U.S. Army training and military base located in Alabama, active from 1917 to 1999. It served as a site for basic training, specialized military education, and chemical weapons testing. Over the years, it trained thousands of soldiers and hosted various military units. After closing, concerns arose about possible contamination from chemical weapons and other hazardous materials used or stored there. Today, parts of the site have been redeveloped for civilian use, but environmental cleanup continues to address lingering safety issues related to its military history.
