Fort Clatsop
Fort Clatsop was a fort built by American explorers Meriwether Lewis and William Clark during their famous expedition in 1805-1806. Located near the Columbia River in present-day Oregon, it served as their winter habitation while they explored the Pacific Northwest. The fort provided shelter and safety as they documented new plants, animals, and native tribes. Today, Fort Clatsop is a reconstructed historical site managed by the National Park Service, offering visitors insight into early 19th-century exploration, the challenges faced by the expedition, and the region’s history.
