Formosan subterranean termite
The Formosan subterranean termite is an invasive, highly destructive termite species originating from East Asia. Known for its large colonies and extensive wood-eating habits, it prefers to live underground but can also infest structures above ground. These termites cause significant damage to wooden buildings, furniture, and plants by tunneling through and consuming cellulose material. They often build mud tubes for travel and protection, making detection difficult until extensive damage occurs. Due to their aggressive nature and rapid colony growth, they pose a serious pest threat, requiring professional inspection and treatment for effective control.
