Forced Labor Convention

The Forced Labor Convention, established by the International Labour Organization in 1930, is an international treaty aimed at eliminating forced or compulsory labor worldwide. It obligates countries to prohibit such practices, including forced recruitment, trafficking, and unpaid or underpaid work done under threat or coercion. The convention seeks to protect workers’ rights, prevent exploitation, and promote fair employment conditions. Countries that ratify it commit to creating laws and effective measures to prevent forced labor and to address violations, ensuring work is voluntary and conducted under fair terms.
