Football League Championship
The Football League Championship, often called the Championship, is the second-highest division in English professional football, just below the Premier League. It features 24 clubs competing annually, with teams playing home and away matches. The top two teams at the end of the season earn automatic promotion to the Premier League, while the next four enter a playoff tournament to determine an additional promoted team. Conversely, the bottom three teams are relegated to League One, the third tier. The Championship is known for competitive, high-quality football and serves as a crucial stepping stone for clubs aiming to reach the top level of English football.
