Fonología

Fonología, or phonology, is the branch of linguistics that studies how sounds function within a particular language or languages. It examines how sounds are organized, how they relate to each other, and how they contribute to meaning. Instead of focusing on individual sounds in isolation, phonology looks at patterns, rules, and systems of sounds—such as which sounds can appear together or how changing a sound can alter meaning. This helps us understand the structure of spoken language and how speech is produced and interpreted in communication.
