Folkekirken
Folkekirken, or the Danish People's Church, is the Evangelical Lutheran church primarily serving Denmark. It’s a state church, meaning it is publicly funded and has a special relationship with the government, but it operates independently in religious matters. Most Danes are members, participate in services, and celebrate key life events like baptisms and weddings through the church. It emphasizes community, tradition, and Christian teachings, while generally maintaining a modern, inclusive approach. Although membership is widespread, individual religious practice varies widely, and Denmark is considered largely secular with a cultural connection to the Folkekirken.
