Foday Sankoh
Foday Sankoh was a Sierra Leonean rebel leader and founder of the Revolutionary United Front (RUF), a group involved in the country's civil war from 1991 to 2002. The RUF sought to control Sierra Leone and was known for brutal tactics, including violence against civilians. Sankoh’s leadership was central to the conflict’s brutality, which caused widespread suffering and destruction. He was eventually arrested, tried by the Sierra Leone government, and sentenced to prison for war crimes. His role exemplifies how leadership in rebel movements can profoundly impact a nation's history and human lives.
