Focal plane array

A focal plane array (FPA) is a special electronic device used in cameras and sensors to detect light and convert it into electronic signals. It consists of a grid of tiny light-sensitive elements, called pixels, that capture the intensity and sometimes the type of light hitting them. This array is positioned at the camera's focal point—the spot where the image comes into focus—allowing the device to create detailed images or analyze infrared signals. FPAs are essential in applications like thermal imaging, satellites, and scientific instruments, providing accurate, high-resolution data for various advanced imaging needs.
