Florida v. Jimeno

Florida v. Jimeno was a Supreme Court case that addressed search warrants and consent. Police obtained a warrant to search Jimeno's car for drugs, but they didn't find any. Jimeno, during the search, agreed to let officers look in his cart. The officers found drugs later in the trunk, which Jimeno hadn't explicitly consented to search. The Court ruled that police could search areas like the trunk once Jimeno gave consent to search the car, even if he didn't explicitly agree to every part of the search. This case clarified that consent can implicitly include the areas a reasonable person would understand to be included during a search.
