Florida v. Anthony

Florida v. Anthony (1982) was a Supreme Court case where the court clarified how to determine whether a suspect's confession is valid. The court ruled that a confession is only admissible if the police clearly inform the suspect of their rights and make it clear that the suspect can choose to remain silent and have an attorney. If police fail to do this, or if the suspect is coerced, the confession may be deemed inadmissible in court. The case emphasized the importance of proper Miranda warnings to protect a suspect's Fifth Amendment rights against self-incrimination.
