Florida Department of Community Affairs

The Florida Department of Community Affairs (DCA) was a state agency responsible for planning and regulating growth, development, and housing to promote healthy, sustainable communities in Florida. It oversaw land use planning, building codes, affordable housing initiatives, and disaster recovery efforts. The DCA also monitored local government compliance with state policies to ensure balanced growth and environmental preservation. In 2011, many of its functions were transferred to other agencies, notably the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity, effectively restructuring the state's approach to community development.
