floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) units
Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) units are large, specialized ships designed to extract oil and gas from beneath the ocean floor. They process the extracted materials onboard, separating oil, gas, and water. Once processed, the oil is stored in the vessel’s tanks until it can be transferred to tankers for delivery to shore. FPSOs are anchored to the seabed, allowing them to operate in remote or deep-water locations where fixed platforms aren’t practical. They provide a flexible and efficient way to develop offshore oil fields, especially in challenging environments.
