Floater
A floater is a small, semi-transparent speck or thread-like object that appears to drift within your field of vision. They are caused by tiny imperfections or clumps in the gel-like substance inside your eye called the vitreous humor. As your eye's vitreous slowly changes with age, these imperfections cast shadows on your retina, creating the perception of floaters. While usually harmless, a sudden increase or appearance of many floaters can indicate retinal issues and should prompt a consultation with an eye care professional. Most floaters are a common part of aging and do not affect vision significantly.
