
FLIR (Forward Looking Infrared)
Forward Looking Infrared (FLIR) is a technology that detects heat emitted by objects and creates images based on temperature differences. Unlike regular cameras that see visible light, FLIR sensors capture infrared radiation, allowing us to "see" in darkness, fog, or smoke. This technology is commonly used in military, search and rescue, and surveillance operations, providing enhanced visibility by highlighting warm objects, like people or vehicles, against cooler backgrounds. Essentially, FLIR enables detection and imaging based on thermal signatures, improving situational awareness in challenging conditions.
