Flightless Birds

Flightless birds are species that have lost the ability to fly, often due to evolutionary adaptation to their environments. They typically have smaller wings relative to their body size, and their bodies may be heavier or more robust, making flight unnecessary or inefficient. Examples include ostriches, emus, kiwis, and penguins. These birds usually live in places where escaping from predators by flight isn’t crucial, such as isolated islands or open plains. Instead, they rely on running, swimming, or hiding for survival. Their flightlessness is a result of environmental factors and evolutionary history that favor other survival strategies.
