Fleet Medical Officers

Fleet Medical Officers (FMOs) are healthcare professionals within the U.S. Navy responsible for providing medical care to service members and their families aboard ships, submarines, and at naval stations. They conduct physical exams, diagnose and treat illnesses, assist during emergencies, and oversee overall wellness programs. FMOs ensure that military personnel remain healthy and combat-ready by managing both routine and urgent healthcare needs in challenging and confined environments. Their role combines medical expertise with adaptability to operate effectively in diverse, often high-pressure settings.
