Flashback (psychology)
A flashback in psychology is a sudden, involuntary experience where a person re-experiences a past traumatic event as if it were happening again. It can involve vivid images, sounds, feelings, or sensations, making the individual temporarily feel as though they are reliving the moment. Flashbacks are common in conditions like Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and often occur unexpectedly, triggered by reminders of the trauma. They are a way the mind processes unresolved trauma, though they can be distressing and disruptive to daily life.
