Flares and Coronal Mass Ejections
Flares and Coronal Mass Ejections (CMEs) are powerful solar phenomena that originate from the Sun’s atmosphere. Solar flares are sudden, intense bursts of radiation caused by magnetic energy released near sunspots, affecting space weather and radio communications. CMEs involve massive amounts of solar plasma and magnetic fields erupting into space, which can impact Earth's magnetic environment, causing auroras and potentially disrupting satellites and power grids. While both originate from solar magnetic activity, flares mainly release energy as light and radiation, whereas CMEs involve large-scale ejections of matter and magnetic fields into space.
