Flap Techniques
Flap techniques are surgical methods used to repair complex wounds or missing tissue by moving healthy tissue—such as skin, muscle, or fat—from one part of the body to another. The tissue, called a flap, maintains its own blood supply during transfer, which helps ensure proper healing. These techniques are often employed after injuries, cancer surgeries, or infections when simple skin grafts aren’t sufficient. Surgeons carefully shape and position the flap to match the damaged area, aiming for good function and appearance while minimizing complications. This approach enables more effective, reliable reconstruction of challenging wounds.
